Overview

National Staffing Solutions is seeking a dedicated optometrist or ophthalmologist to support the VBA MDE program, focusing on providing medical examinations for veterans. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of America's heroes while working within a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Read and review medical history and service records
  • Complete Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQ) and Medical Opinions (MO) through the EMR system
  • Explain the exam process to veterans and confirm claimed conditions
  • Complete and submit exam charts within 24-48 hours
  • Administer and interpret visual field testing as needed
  • Analyze data from VA medical records and literature
  • Work independently and manage time effectively
  • Collaborate with on-site and remote staff

Required skills

  • Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) or Doctor of Ophthalmology (M.D.) degree
  • Active state license in practice state
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and EMR systems
  • Current BLS certification
  • Preferred experience assessing veterans
