Job Description

Overview

The Operating Engineer at JLL plays a crucial role in facility operations, ensuring optimal performance of building systems across North and South Carolina. This hands-on position requires technical expertise in HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems while providing exceptional service to clients and maintaining a safe working environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Respond to tenant service requests for temperature, lighting, and general maintenance issues.
  • Operate and monitor mechanical equipment, recording operational changes in logbooks.
  • Execute preventive maintenance tasks and report supply shortages.
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC and plumbing equipment.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks such as painting and lighting replacement.
  • Adhere to safety standards and write Job Hazard Assessments.
  • Travel to client sites in North and South Carolina using a company-provided van.

Required skills

  • High school diploma or GED with two years of trades schooling in electrical, refrigeration, or HVAC.
  • Technical expertise in electrical, HVAC, plumbing or Central Utility Plant operations.
  • Universal Technician certification for CFCs (if applicable).
  • Ability to analyze system operations and independently diagnose problems.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and work from heights.
  • Knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel.
