Job Description

Overview

As an Offset Second Press Operator at Quad, you will play a critical role in maintaining print quality and ensuring client satisfaction while working closely with the First Press Operator. This position is essential in achieving productivity, quality, and safety goals within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Follow all standard operating procedures and safety guidelines
  • Verify job specifications, including paper size, color, and ink
  • Monitor color and registration accuracy
  • Inspect printed sheets and make adjustments for quality control
  • Assist in plate changes and press adjustments
  • Re-thread paper and adjust tension rollers during web breaks
  • Provide training and support to junior crew members
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Contribute ideas for process improvements
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Required skills

  • 2-3 years of experience operating offset presses
  • Experience with Harris, Heidelberg, Goss, or Manroland Offset Presses preferred
  • Strong understanding of press operations and troubleshooting
  • Ability to read and interpret job orders
  • Basic math skills related to press operations
  • Excellent problem-solving skills for tension and ink distribution issues
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexible and rotating schedules, including nights and weekends
  • Physical ability to lift 10-50 lbs and stand for long periods
