Overview

Quad, a global marketing experience company, is looking for an Offset Press Assistant (Rolltender) in Winchester, VA. The role involves loading rolls of paper onto a printing press and performing various tasks related to maintaining the printing process, while collaborating effectively within the team.

Key responsibilities

  • Load rolls of paper onto a printing press
  • Understand and follow standard operating procedures
  • Coordinate plates and tickets for upcoming jobs
  • Inspect rolls of paper for defects
  • Set up splices, hang plates, and assist with press webbing
  • Ensure ink availability and maintain ink fountains
  • Perform make-ready checks and complete roll reports
  • Communicate with plate room and paper warehouse
  • Assist with press washing and preventative maintenance

Required skills

  • Mechanical skills
  • Knowledge of printing presses and roll stands
  • Basic math calculation abilities
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team and independently
  • Physical ability to lift up to 70 pounds and perform repetitious tasks
