Overview

THEODORE P WATSON & ASSOCIATES is seeking an experienced Federal Civil and Criminal Defense Attorney for an Of Counsel position in Illinois. The successful candidate will provide legal counsel, conduct legal research, and assist in federal False Claims Act cases, while collaborating closely with senior attorneys and colleagues.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare contracts, briefs, motions, and other legal documents
  • Conduct legal research
  • Prepare for and attend legal proceedings, including trials and settlements
  • Provide legal counsel in conjunction with senior attorneys
  • Negotiate on behalf of clients
  • Maintain detailed and accurate client records
  • Respond to subpoenas and civil investigative demands
  • Handle litigation and trial for federal white collar and civil cases

Required skills

  • Juris Doctor (J.D. degree) from an accredited law school
  • Active member of the American Bar Association (ABA)
  • Current Illinois Bar and Federal Court License
  • Proven experience as federal prosecutor or DOJ
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues
