Overview

As an Oceanographer/Meteorologist (OCEANO) Officer in the U.S. Navy, you will serve as a geophysical expert in meteorology, oceanography, hydrography, and related fields to support naval operations. Your role involves ensuring navigation safety, enhancing operational effectiveness, and leading environmental data collection and analysis efforts within Navy commands.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the collection, processing, prediction, exploitation, and dissemination of environmental data.
  • Provide support to fleet and joint operations.
  • Ensure navigation safety and access to denied waters.
  • Lead teams ranging from small units to large commands.
  • Serve as the geophysical expert at an operational command.
