Overview

Oceanography (OCEANO) Officers, also known as METOC, are the Navy's experts in geophysical sciences, encompassing meteorology, oceanography, hydrography, and geophysics. Their main role is to provide essential environmental data to support Navy operations, ensuring safety and strategic advantage for the fleet.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the collection, processing, and dissemination of environmental data for fleet operations.
  • Ensure safety of navigation and access to denied waters.
  • Lead teams ranging from small units to large commands in operational settings.
  • Serve as the sole geophysical expert at operational commands.

Required skills
