Overview

The Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) at UNC Health is responsible for anesthetizing patients undergoing various medical procedures. The position operates within the anesthesiology department and requires collaboration with a team of anesthesiologists while focusing on patient safety and quality care. Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients pre-operatively and develop anesthesia plans of care.
  • Attend continuing education and contribute to departmental committees.
  • Assist in performance improvement initiatives and evaluate patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate anesthesia records and documentation.
  • Administer anesthesia and manage patient safety during procedures.

Required skills

  • Completion of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program
  • Certification or eligibility for certification by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina
  • Knowledge of anesthesia administration and standards of care
  • Critical thinking and excellent communication skills
