Overview

Ochsner Health System is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant specialized in Radiation Oncology to provide collaborative care in an outpatient clinic setting. This role involves patient education, medical management, and staff development under the supervision of a medical director and is critical in improving patient outcomes and training future healthcare professionals.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver patient care based on medical practices and criteria appropriate to various patient ages
  • Engage in primary and urgent medical management
  • Provide education to patients, families, and staff
  • Participate in planning, implementation, and evaluation of medical care
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws and accreditation standards
  • Adapt communication style and methods to meet patient needs
  • Perform other related duties as required

Required skills

  • Master's degree in Nursing (for NP) or Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant medicine or Health Sciences
  • Current License as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or License as a Physician Assistant in the state of practice
  • NCCPA certification for Physician Assistants
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Windows-style applications and specific software packages
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work flexible hours
  • Knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies and protocols
