Job Description

Overview

Ochsner Health System is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join their Radiation Oncology team in Chalmette, Louisiana. This role involves collaborating with a variety of medical staff to provide outpatient care and education to patients while assuming responsibility for both primary and urgent medical management.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide medical and nursing care under supervision of the Medical Director or approved physician
  • Manage primary and urgent medical care for outpatient clinic patients
  • Educate patients and families, as well as other health professionals
  • Participate in teaching of residents and medical students
  • Conduct patient discharge planning and evaluations
  • Adhere to medical practices and compliance regulations

Required skills

  • Master’s degree in Nursing (for NP) or Bachelor's in Physician Assistant medicine or Health Sciences (for PA)
  • Current License as an APRN (for NP) or License as a Physician Assistant (for PA)
  • Certification in BCLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in computer use and various software applications
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to adapt to patient needs
  • Knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies and protocols
