Overview

Valor Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Primary Care Nurse Practitioner for a per-diem role at their Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Franklin and Bogalusa, LA. The position involves providing medical treatment and personal care services to veterans and is focused on collaborative patient care with a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat patients under the direction of a supervising physician
  • Examine patients for symptoms of disorders
  • Develop and implement patient management plans
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Counsel patients on prescription medications and health maintenance
  • Evaluate patient records from external medical providers
  • Complete clinical reminders and documentation within 24 hours
  • Comply with VA guidelines for clinical documentation and patient requests
  • Provide excellent customer service to veterans and clinic visitors
  • Participate in clinic outreach events to support enrollment initiatives

Required skills

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program and nurse practitioner program (MSN required)
  • Certification by a professional organization
  • Minimum one year clinical experience, preferably in a primary or ambulatory care setting
  • Must be credentialed with the Veterans Health Administration
  • Valid, unrestricted nursing license
  • Current Basic Life Support and ACLS certifications
  • Strong computer skills
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • Energetic and optimistic demeanor
  • Strong service mentality
