Overview

Valor Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Primary Care Nurse Practitioner for per-diem coverage at their Community Based Outpatient Clinics in Franklin and Bogalusa, Louisiana. This role involves providing medical treatment and personal care services to veterans, while collaborating with a team to ensure high-quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat veterans under the direction of a supervising physician
  • Examine patients for symptoms of disorders and develop management plans
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and provide follow-up care
  • Counsel patients on medications, assess mental health issues, and provide health maintenance
  • Evaluate external medical records and manage co-managed care with VA protocols
  • Complete clinical reminders and documentation within specified timelines
  • Comply with VA guidelines, trainings, and regulations
  • Provide excellent customer service to veterans and clinic visitors
  • Participate in outreach events to support clinic enrollment initiatives

Required skills

  • Graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner program (MSN required)
  • Certification by applicable professional organization
  • Minimum one-year clinical experience in primary care or ambulatory care
  • Current unrestricted state nursing license
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS
  • Current DEA registration
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Strong computer skills
