Job Description

Overview

The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) at CHRISTUS Health provides primary and acute care to neonates and infants up to one year old. NNPs are responsible for diagnosing and managing a wide range of health conditions, performing examinations, ordering tests, and providing comprehensive patient education and care.

Key responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat patients with undifferentiated symptoms and established diagnoses
  • Provide initial, ongoing, and comprehensive care to neonates and infants
  • Perform health assessments, including complete histories and physical examinations
  • Manage acute and chronic illnesses and diseases
  • Order, perform, and interpret laboratory and imaging studies
  • Prescribe medication and durable medical equipment
  • Make appropriate referrals for patients and families
  • Engage in health promotion, disease prevention, and health education
  • Select and perform advanced diagnostic and therapeutic invasive procedures

Required skills

  • Current Licensure through the Texas Board of Nursing
  • Valid DEA license or ability to obtain prior to employment
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • NRP Certification
  • Previous neonatal experience
