Overview

WKBT, News 8 Now in La Crosse is seeking a dynamic news anchor to deliver multiplatform content to diverse audiences. The ideal candidate should have experience in journalism, leadership, and community involvement while fostering a creative and team-oriented newsroom environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Present news stories and digital content
  • Develop sources and stories within the community
  • Engage with viewers in the community and on social platforms
  • Assist in writing, copy editing, researching, and coordinating news stories
  • Work with early-career producers and reporters to develop their skills
  • Report from the field as assigned
  • Participate in promotional activities including public appearances

Required skills

  • 1 to 3 years anchoring and reporting experience
  • Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism or related field
  • Smooth and effective delivery of content for live broadcast
  • Strong news judgment
  • Excellent writing and copy-editing skills
  • Proficiency in story creation and newscast production
  • Understanding of digital/new media platforms and strategy
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize assignments
