Overview

Aya Locums is seeking a Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner to join their team in Monterey, California. The role focuses on delivering inpatient and outpatient neurosurgical care, requiring a combination of surgical and patient care skills.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care for neurosurgery patients
  • Handle approximately 5-7 surgeries per week in a hybrid inpatient/outpatient setting
  • Assist with patient care in the clinic, managing 5-7 patients per day
  • Work independently with surgeons in inpatient settings
  • Perform specialized procedures such as drain removal, wound care, and suture/staple removal

Required skills

  • Board Certification as an NP or PA
  • Active state license for NP; PA license varies
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in neurosurgery; 3-5 years preferred
  • Surgical specialty or procedural experience in a high acuity environment
  • BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA)
  • Familiarity with EMR system, specifically Epic
