Job Description

Overview

Aya Locums is seeking a Neurocritical Care Nurse Practitioner for a full-time position in the Greater New Orleans Suburban Region starting April 2026. This role involves comprehensive management of critically ill neurologic patients in a closed adult Neuro ICU setting with available 24-hour neurointensivist support and a focus on high acuity cases.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide full-spectrum adult Neuro ICU care
  • Conduct neurologic assessments and acute neurocritical management
  • Perform ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
  • Document admissions, daily progress notes, and discharge summaries
  • Perform required procedures including wound care and urinary catheterization
  • Manage neurologic emergencies and critical care procedures

Required skills

  • Board Certified Nurse Practitioner in Neurocritical Care (AGACNP or Acute Care NP)
  • Active Louisiana nursing license
  • DEA & Louisiana CSR certification
  • BLS, ACLS, and ENLS certifications
  • Minimum 1 year experience in Neuro ICU or critical care
  • Comfortable with high acuity neurological conditions
  • Familiarity with Epic EMR
