Overview

The Multi-Trade Inspector at the City of La Marque plays a critical role in ensuring safe and high-quality construction within the community. The position involves independent inspections and strong communication with contractors, homeowners, and design professionals while upholding code compliance and public safety.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform field inspections for residential and commercial projects to verify compliance with codes.
  • Identify code violations and issue correction notices.
  • Interpret and enforce building codes and local ordinances.
  • Document inspection results accurately and maintain detailed records.
  • Investigate complaints related to construction activities.
  • Provide technical guidance regarding code requirements and procedures.
  • Issue stop work orders when necessary.
  • Participate in training and maintain required certifications.

Required skills

  • High school diploma or GED; associate degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum three years of experience in construction, inspections, or code enforcement.
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards, including ICC and NEC.
  • Skills in conducting inspections and preparing inspection reports.
  • Ability to interpret construction plans and technical documents.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.
