Overview

The Multi-Family Construction Specialist at NCHFA is responsible for inspecting multifamily new construction and rehabilitation projects, ensuring compliance with established practices and program guidelines. This role involves evaluating the progress of construction work, conducting site visits, and reviewing building plans while providing technical assistance and recommendations.

Key responsibilities

  • Inspect multifamily new construction and rehabilitation projects
  • Evaluate progress of construction work and report discrepancies
  • Schedule and conduct site visits and inspections
  • Review multi-family building plans for compliance with codes and standards
  • Conduct scope of work site inspections for rehabilitation projects
  • Review development costs and application reports for approval
  • Provide technical assistance and best practices related to construction
  • Stay informed of local, state, and federal building codes and laws
  • Perform on-site interviews related to compliance with federal regulations
  • Conduct site inspections of insurance claims and report findings

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, construction science, or related discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in construction management or professional design
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Good understanding of construction methods, materials, and techniques
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations
  • Basic knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Good time management skills and attention to detail
  • Basic problem-solving skills
