Job Description

Overview

The MT/MLT - Generalist at Shore Medical Center is responsible for performing all laboratory procedures according to established policies. This role involves quality control, effective communication of critical values, and prioritizing workload based on urgency.

Key responsibilities

  • Utilizes quality control for decision-making
  • Communicates critical values according to departmental policy
  • Reviews abnormal and inconsistent results and takes appropriate action
  • Performs STAT and routine orders within established time limits
  • Demonstrates teamwork consistently
  • Recognizes problems and takes appropriate action
  • Prioritizes workload based on volume and urgency
  • Collects and processes specimens adequately
  • Communicates workstation status to appropriate personnel
  • Safely performs routine maintenance procedures
  • Performs and evaluates instrument functions

Required skills

  • MT (ASCP) or MLT (ASCP) certification or eligibility
  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records and medical terminology
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull
