BMO Financial is seeking a Mortgage Specialist to join their Retail Banking Sales & Service team in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This role offers an opportunity to leverage your entrepreneurial spirit while assisting customers in achieving their dreams of home ownership. The Mortgage Specialist will be responsible for cultivating relationships to build a referral network and developing effective marketing strategies to drive mortgage business.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and manage relationships with a referral network to generate new mortgage business.
  • Identify sales opportunities and refer customers to appropriate BMO colleagues.
  • Develop and execute marketing and sales programs to drive business results.
  • Participate in trade shows and community events to enhance BMO's presence.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and guidance throughout the mortgage application process.
  • Collaborate with branch teams for seamless customer handoffs and documentation.
  • Conduct independent analysis to address strategic issues and inform stakeholders.
  • Comply with legal and regulatory requirements in all activities.

Required skills

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in mortgage lending or related field
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • In-depth understanding of mortgage lending process and regulatory requirements
  • Strong interpersonal, sales, and negotiation skills
  • Functional knowledge of personal banking and investments
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
