Overview

BMO Financial is seeking a Mortgage Specialist in St. John's, NL, to help customers achieve home ownership through mortgage lending. This role involves cultivating relationships, identifying sales opportunities, and executing marketing strategies while providing exceptional customer service and adhering to regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and manage relationships with a referral network for mortgage business.
  • Identify sales opportunities and collaborate with BMO colleagues.
  • Develop and implement effective marketing and sales programs.
  • Proactively engage with referral and origination sources.
  • Assist in targeted marketing programs and promotions.
  • Expand network for referrals and originations from existing relationships.
  • Participate in community events to enhance the Bank's presence.
  • Guide customers through mortgage application and processing.
  • Resolve customer service issues and ensure timely fund advances.
  • Conduct independent analysis to address strategic issues.
  • Document updates in internal systems regarding customer transactions.

Required skills

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in mortgage lending
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Strong interpersonal, sales, and customer service skills
  • Expert knowledge of personal lending and relationship management
  • Functional knowledge of personal banking and investments
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills
  • In-depth verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements in mortgage lending
