Overview

BMO Financial is seeking a Mortgage Specialist in St. John's, Newfoundland & Labrador, to help customers achieve their home ownership dreams. The role entails building and managing a referral network to drive mortgage business and requires a proactive approach to identifying sales opportunities and delivering exceptional customer service.

Key responsibilities

  • Cultivate, build, and manage relationships with a referral network.
  • Identify sales opportunities and refer to BMO colleagues as appropriate.
  • Develop and execute marketing and sales programs.
  • Contact referral and origination sources to discuss home financing solutions.
  • Search for cross-sell and up-sell opportunities.
  • Participate in community events to enhance bank presence.
  • Guide customers throughout the mortgage application process.
  • Document updates in internal systems for transparency on transactions.
  • Analyze data to provide insights and solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with operational guidelines and integrity.

Required skills

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in mortgage lending
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field or equivalent education and experience
  • In-depth understanding of the mortgage lending process
  • Strong interpersonal, sales, customer service, and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of personal banking and investments
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Collaboration and teamwork abilities
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to influence and manage relationships
