Overview

The Mortgage Specialist role at BMO Financial involves guiding customers through the mortgage application process while building and managing a referral network to increase market share in home financing. With an emphasis on exceptional customer service and proactive sales strategies, this position provides an opportunity to grow within the financial services industry.

Key responsibilities

  • Cultivates and manages relationships within a referral network to generate new mortgage business.
  • Identifies sales opportunities and refers clients to appropriate BMO colleagues.
  • Develops and executes marketing and sales programs to drive business results.
  • Participates in community events to enhance the Bank's presence.
  • Provides exceptional customer service and resolves client issues.
  • Guides customers throughout the mortgage application and processing activities.
  • Collaborates with branch teams to finalize mortgage documentation.
  • Documents updates in internal systems to track customer opportunities.
  • Engages in independent analysis to resolve strategic issues.
  • Operates within the framework of risk management and compliance.

Required skills

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in banking or financial services
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • In-depth understanding of the mortgage lending process
  • Strong interpersonal, sales, and customer service skills
  • Expertise in relationship management and negotiation
  • Functional knowledge of personal banking and lending
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
