Job Description

Overview

The Mortgage Loan Originator at First Community Credit Union in Belvidere, Illinois will be responsible for developing new residential mortgage business and maintaining a strong network for referrals. This role involves providing exceptional customer service, conducting interviews with prospective borrowers, and ensuring compliance with lending regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Model a high energy, world-class service and sales culture within the branch
  • Proactively solicit new mortgage business and sell FCCU mortgage products
  • Identify and develop a network of business relationships for referrals
  • Respond to customer inquiries and referrals
  • Conduct interviews with prospective borrowers to analyze financial data
  • Ensure compliance with lending programs, policies, and regulations
  • Assist in branch services and operations as needed
  • Mentor and motivate front-line staff
  • Build strong relationships with members to achieve sales goals

Required skills

  • Strong leadership skills including communication, mentoring, and coaching
  • World-class service skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of credit union products and services
  • Strong sales and sales coaching skills
  • Experience with mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures
  • Understanding of Federal and State regulations for Real Estate Lending
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and database management

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Enthusiasm for assignments and ability to meet timelines
  • Knowledge of intermediate math concepts
