Overview

The Mortgage Loan Closing Manager is responsible for overseeing all residential mortgage loan closing and post-closing functions, ensuring timely, compliant, and accurate loan settlement and delivery. This role provides strategic leadership to closing and post-closing teams while serving as a key operational partner to origination, secondary marketing, compliance, legal, and servicing. The Mortgage Loan Closing Manager is accountable for regulatory compliance, investor requirements, quality control, process improvement, and risk mitigation across the loan life cycle from clear to close through purchase, shipping, and final loan certification. Responsibilities: Lead and develop high-performing Closing and Post-Closing teams Establish operational strategy aligned with the Bank's mortgage growth, risk, and customer experience objectives Drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and regulatory excellence Partner with Executive Leadership on staffing models, workflow optimization, and technology enhancements Closing Operations Oversee end-to-end loan closing processes for all residential products, including conventional, jumbo, and portfolio loans Ensure accurate preparation and execution of closing documents in compliance with federal, state, and investor requirements Maintain strong relationships with settlement agents, attorneys, title companies, and notaries Monitor closing turn times, funding accuracy, and customer satisfaction metrics Post-Closing & Investor Delivery Manage post-closing review, trailing document clearance, loan certification, and investor delivery Ensure timely and accurate loan purchase by private investors Oversee collateral management, custody, and imaging processes Resolve post-closing deficiencies, suspense conditions, and purchase exception issues Compliance & Risk Management Ensure full compliance with all applicable regulations, including TRID, RESPA, TILA, HMDA, ECOA, and state-specific requirements Partner with Compliance, Legal, Internal Audit, and Risk teams on audits, examinations, and issue remediation Implement and maintain strong internal controls to minimize operational, regulatory, and reputational risk Review and update policies and procedures to reflect regulatory and investor changes Quality Control & Reporting Monitor and analyze key performance indicators, defect rates, and investor findings Identify trends and root causes, implementing corrective and preventive action plans Provide regular reporting and executive-level updates on pipeline status, risks, and performance Minimum Education and /or Certifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience A combination of education, training, and experience may be substituted when competency in the role is demonstrated. Minimum Work Experience Requirements: Ten or more years of residential mortgage operations experience with significant focus on closing and post-closing Five or more years of leadership experience managing multi-level teams Strong knowledge of mortgage regulations, investor guidelines, and secondary market delivery Proven experience in a bank or regulated mortgage environment Prior senior management experience preferred Experience with multiple investors and complex product offerings preferred Technical and/or Essential Knowledge: Experience with multiple investors and complex product offerings Experience with Meridianlink Mortgage (preferred) Strategic and operational leadership Regulatory and risk management expertise Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and executive presentation skills Ability to manage change in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Collaborative, partnership-oriented leadership style
