Job Description

Overview

The MLS position at River's Edge Hospital & Clinic involves performing diagnostic laboratory procedures during the Baylor shift, focusing on overnight hours from Friday to Sunday. This role is crucial in providing accurate test results for patient diagnosis and treatment while ensuring high standards of quality and customer care are maintained.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic laboratory procedures and provide timely and accurate test results
  • Participate in the Laboratory's Quality Assurance Plan
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and cooperate to maintain workflow
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and patients
  • Perform EKGs and various specimen collection methods
  • Follow laboratory protocols for specimen handling and processing
  • Document quality control activities and performance specifications
  • Identify and correct problems that may affect test performance
  • Participate in proficiency testing and follow safety and infection control policies
  • Flexibly share weekend and holiday shifts as scheduled

Required skills

  • Bachelor Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field
  • Certification by ASCP or equivalent
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures and policies
  • Ability to perform EKG and various specimen collection techniques
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) or willing to obtain
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to adapt to changes in practice

What the company offers

  • 72 hours of work compensated for 80 hours
