Overview

Stratford School is looking for a dedicated Middle School Physical Education Teacher to join their athletic team in San Jose, California. This role involves preparing students for high school sports, team building, and fostering skill development through interactive lesson plans.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging physical education lesson plans
  • Set up equipment and ensure safety instruction during classes
  • Assess student progress in physical fitness and skills
  • Participate in school athletic events and special events
  • Provide mentorship to students needing extra help
  • Maintain knowledge of athletic standards and safety requirements
  • Submit weekly lesson plans to the principal
  • Manage procurement and inventory of PE equipment
  • Attend departmental meetings and professional development activities
  • Maintain certification in First Aid, CPR, and concussion awareness

Required skills

  • BA degree
  • Three years of experience coaching a sports team
  • Knowledge of middle school sports rules and regulations
  • Coaching theory and techniques
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification
