Job Description

Overview

Stratford School is seeking an inspiring and dedicated Middle School Physical Education Teacher to join their athletic team. This role focuses on preparing students for high school sports and fostering skills through interactive lesson plans in physical education.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver creative and effective instructional lesson plans for co-ed sports and team building
  • Set up equipment prior to class and provide appropriate safety instruction and supervision
  • Assess students' progress in physical fitness and skills, and communicate progress reports
  • Participate in school athletic events and provide mentorship to students needing extra help
  • Maintain knowledge of athletic standards and implement a non-punitive approach to sportsmanship
  • Submit weekly lesson plans to the principal and manage PE equipment procurement and inventory
  • Attend departmental meetings and professional development activities

Required skills

  • BA degree and at least three years of coaching experience
  • Knowledge of middle school sports rules and regulations
  • Experience in coaching theory and techniques
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification
