Overview

Plasser American Corp is seeking a Mid-to-Senior Level Project Manager to lead critical railroad equipment projects from manufacturing through commissioning and final handover in Chesapeake, Virginia. This role requires a foundation in engineering and project management within the railroad industry, focusing on delivering complex and high-stakes projects.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end project lifecycle, including planning, execution, commissioning, and handover.
  • Represent PAC in meetings with internal teams, customers, contractors, and senior management.
  • Oversee and coordinate the activities of project engineers and support staff.
  • Monitor project risk and take proactive measures to ensure successful execution.
  • Review and manage project financials and delivery schedules.
  • Maintain professional communication with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Ensure scope, schedule, and cost changes are controlled and documented.
  • Conduct regular site visits to supervise progress and resolve challenges.
  • Maintain structured project documentation, including schedules and cost tracking.
  • Track and report project performance through updates and risk assessments.
  • Ensure project adherence to company and industry quality standards and safety.
  • Collaborate effectively with international teams across different time zones.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience in heavy equipment or complex mechanical/rail systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of the railroad industry and prior experience with class one railroad and transit.
  • PMP certification preferred or willingness to obtain within 1 year.
  • Proven expertise with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with scheduling software like MS Project or Primavera.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communicator and demonstrated leadership in cross-functional environments.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.
