Overview

The Melt Supervisor at Ashland Foundry & Machine Works LLC is the frontline leader responsible for overseeing the melting and pouring of metal to meet production schedules and quality standards. The role involves managing various aspects of the metallurgical process while ensuring safety and compliance with established procedures.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage melting and pouring operations to meet production schedules and quality standards
  • Oversee furnace operation, charge preparation, and metal chemistry control
  • Ensure safety management and compliance with metallurgical standards
  • Collaborate with quality, engineering, maintenance, and casting operations
  • Document heat processes and maintain equipment readiness
  • Prevent defects related to melting or pouring

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent; Associates degree in materials science, manufacturing, or engineering preferred
  • 3-5 years of foundry, melt, casting, or metallurgical experience
  • Ability to write routine reports
  • Effective communication skills with employees, customers, and suppliers
  • Strong organizational and resource management abilities
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds and stand for up to 12 hours
