KPRC, an NBC station in Houston, is looking for a dynamic and knowledgeable Meteorologist who is passionate about weather forecasting and community engagement. This role entails delivering accurate weather forecasts, engaging with the community, and producing compelling weather reports across multiple platforms.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver accurate and compelling weather forecasts, focusing on severe weather impacts.
  • Engage with the community by participating in events and building local ties.
  • Produce creative weather reports using advanced graphics and pre-production elements.
  • Explain the reasoning behind forecasts to enhance audience understanding.
  • Maintain a trustworthy and authentic presence both on-air and in the community.
  • Contribute content to station platforms and engage with audiences on social media.
  • Provide urgent weather information from the studio and in the field.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Meteorology
  • On-air experience, including severe weather coverage
  • Proficient in WSI and Barons weather systems
  • Strong on-air presence and engaging personality
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Knowledge of newsroom computer systems and social media platforms
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
