Job Description

Overview

The U.S. Navy is seeking a Meteorologist, also known as an Oceanography Officer, to leverage their expertise in meteorology, oceanography, hydrography, and related fields to support fleet and joint operations. This role includes ensuring navigation safety and contributing to military effectiveness through environmental insight, with various assignments worldwide, both at sea and ashore.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the collection, processing, prediction, exploitation, and dissemination of environmental data
  • Provide support to fleet and joint operations
  • Ensure safety of navigation and access to denied waters
  • Lead teams of varying sizes, from small deployable units to large commands
  • Serve as the geophysical expert at operational commands
  • Participate in diverse operational billets with increasing responsibility
