Overview

The Merchandising Instructional Designer at The Home Depot Canada is responsible for creating effective training solutions that meet the development objectives within merchandising. This role focuses on designing self-paced training guides, presentations, onboarding plans, and various performance support tools while leveraging graphic design skills to present compelling narratives. Additionally, the designer will collaborate with different client groups to align training solutions with business needs while managing SharePoint as a centralized learning resource.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and develop learning solutions tailored to the needs of the business.
  • Create change management guides and support materials for solution adoption.
  • Build and maintain comprehensive onboarding frameworks for merchandising roles.
  • Develop executive-level presentations to articulate learning strategies and project impacts.
  • Utilize generative AI tools to educate and upskill the team on AI applications.
  • Collaborate with client groups to identify business priorities for training solutions.
  • Schedule training sessions and coordinate necessary resources.
  • Audit and maintain existing training materials and SharePoint content.

Required skills

  • Proficient knowledge of instructional design and adult learning theories
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Strong graphic design capabilities
  • Experience with SharePoint site development
  • Utilization and teaching of generative AI tools
  • Video editing experience is an asset
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
