Overview

WellSpan Hospitals is seeking a Medical Technologist for PRN/Casual night shifts at their facility in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The ideal candidate will provide technical and supportive patient care while performing laboratory specimen collection, analysis, and reporting. This role emphasizes collaboration and adherence to safety practices within a small-format hospital setting.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform complex tests in the laboratory according to established protocols.
  • Collect and process laboratory specimens following technical knowledge and protocols.
  • Conduct quality control, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments.
  • Validate and report test results while assisting with quality assurance issues.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Assist with patient care activities such as phlebotomy, IV starts, and vital signs.
  • Maintain patient privacy and a clean, safe environment.
  • Collaborate with clinical departments to enhance laboratory services.
  • Attend staff meetings and perform additional duties as required.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological/Physical Sciences or Medical Laboratory Science
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum 6 years core lab experience
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist
  • Experience with IV starts and phlebotomy is a plus
