Overview

WellSpan Hospitals is seeking a Medical Technologist/Point-of-Care (POC/MLT/MLS) for a PRN/Casual Night Shift position. This role involves providing technical assistance and supportive patient care in a small-format hospital setting, focusing on the collection and analysis of laboratory specimens.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform tasks and complex tests in the laboratory according to protocols and regulations
  • Collect and process laboratory specimens
  • Conduct quality control and preventive maintenance on instruments
  • Validate and report test results, assisting with troubleshooting and quality assurance
  • Maintain safety and compliance with biohazards and infection control standards
  • Assist with patient care tasks such as phlebotomy and vital sign monitoring
  • Collaborate with clinical departments to provide integrated laboratory services
  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist during procedures
  • Maintain lab areas and patient care with necessary supplies

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological/Physical Sciences or Medical Laboratory Science
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum 6 years of core lab experience
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist (MLS/MLT)
  • Valid state license or ability to obtain General Supervisor license
  • Experience in non-waived laboratory specialties
