Job Description

Overview

The Medical Technologist will provide technical assistance and patient care in a small-format hospital setting. The role involves the collection, analysis, and reporting of laboratory specimens while ensuring compliance with protocols and regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory tests according to established protocols
  • Collect and process specimens following technical knowledge
  • Conduct quality control and preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment
  • Report and validate test results, addressing quality assurance issues
  • Maintain compliance with safety practices and regulations
  • Assist with patient care activities such as phlebotomy and vital signs
  • Collaborate with clinical departments to enhance laboratory services
  • Ensure a clean and safe environment for patients

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological/Physical Sciences or Medical Laboratory Science
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Minimum of 6 years core lab experience
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist (MLS/MLT)
  • Valid State license or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Experience with IV start and phlebotomy is a plus
