Job Description

Overview

The Medical Technologist/POC/MLT (Med Tech) position at WellSpan Hospitals involves providing technical assistance and supportive patient care within a small-format hospital setting. This role requires the collection, analysis, and reporting of laboratory specimens while ensuring compliance with established protocols and regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform tasks and complex tests in all areas of the laboratory
  • Collect and process specimens according to laboratory protocols
  • Conduct quality control and preventive maintenance of laboratory instruments
  • Validate and deliver test results while assisting with troubleshooting and quality assurance
  • Follow safety practices regarding biohazards and infection control
  • Collaborate with clinical departments to provide integrated laboratory services
  • Coordinate and perform pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic laboratory activities
  • Assist with patient care tasks including phlebotomy and administering vital signs

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological/Physical Sciences or Medical Laboratory Science
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum of 6 years core lab experience
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist (MLS/MLT)
  • Valid State of Nevada license or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Experience in clinical laboratory non-waived specialties
  • Knowledge of IV starts, phlebotomy, and EKG initiation (training provided)
