Overview

WellSpan Hospitals is seeking a Medical Technologist/POC/MLT (Med Tech) for a night shift position at their WellSpan Neighborhood Hospital in Newberry. The role involves providing technical assistance and supportive patient care while ensuring compliance with laboratory protocols and regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform tasks and complex tests in all areas of the laboratory according to established protocols
  • Collect and process specimens using technical knowledge
  • Conduct quality control and preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments
  • Validate and report results of tests performed while troubleshooting issues
  • Assist with various patient care activities including phlebotomy and vital signs monitoring
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality
  • Prepare and chaperone patients during examinations and procedures
  • Ensure a clean, safe environment and adhere to infection control measures
  • Collaborate with clinical departments to provide integrated laboratory services
  • Attend staff meetings and perform additional duties as assigned

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological/Physical Sciences or Medical Laboratory Science
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum of 6 years core lab experience
  • Act 33 and Act 73 clearances
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist (MLS/MLT)
  • Experience in non-waived specialties of a clinical laboratory
