Overview

WellSpan Hospitals is seeking a Medical Technologist/POC/MLT to join their team in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. This full-time position involves providing technical assistance and supportive patient care, as well as collecting and analyzing laboratory specimens while ensuring compliance with established protocols and regulations. The role includes collaboration with clinical departments to enhance laboratory services and patient care.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform tasks and complex tests in all laboratory areas according to established protocols and procedures.
  • Collect and process specimens while utilizing technical knowledge.
  • Conduct quality control and preventive maintenance for laboratory instruments.
  • Validate and report test results while assisting with technical troubleshooting and quality assurance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety practices and maintain documentation for regulatory purposes.
  • Assist with patient care tasks including phlebotomy, IV starts, and vital sign monitoring.
  • Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment with appropriate supplies.
  • Participate in staff meetings and fulfill other duties as assigned.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological/Physical Sciences or Medical Laboratory Science
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum of 6 years core lab experience
  • Act 33 and Act 73 clearances within 5 years or prior to start date
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist (MLS/MLT) by ASCP or AMT
  • Experience with IV start and phlebotomy is a plus
