Overview

WellSpan Hospitals in Carlisle, Newberry & Shrewsbury is seeking a Medical Technologist/POC/MLT to provide technical assistance and supportive patient care by collecting, processing, and analyzing laboratory specimens. This full-time position offers a night shift and aims to deliver individualized care in a small-format hospital setting.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance and patient care within assigned areas
  • Collect and analyze laboratory specimens according to protocols
  • Validate and report test results, assisting with troubleshooting and quality assurance
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Perform quality control and preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments
  • Coordinate pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic laboratory activities
  • Assist with patient care tasks such as phlebotomy, IV starts, and EKG initiation
  • Ensure patient safety and maintain confidentiality of information
  • Prepare patients and assist during examinations or procedures
  • Travel to all facility locations as required

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological/Physical Sciences or Medical Laboratory Science
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum 6 years of core lab experience
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist by ASCP or AMT
  • Experience with phlebotomy and IV starts is a plus
