Overview

WellSpan Hospitals is seeking a Medical Technologist for a PRN/Casual position, primarily during night shifts, at their facility in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The role involves providing technical assistance and patient care, including the collection and analysis of laboratory specimens, ensuring compliance with established protocols and regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory tasks and complex tests according to protocols.
  • Collect and process specimens using established procedures.
  • Conduct quality control and preventive maintenance on instruments.
  • Validate and report test results while addressing technical issues.
  • Assist with patient care activities such as phlebotomy and vital signs.
  • Maintain patient privacy and a clean, safe environment.
  • Foster collaboration among clinical departments.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist with treatments.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological/Physical Sciences or Medical Laboratory Science.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Minimum 6 years core lab experience.
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist (MLS/MLT) preferred.
  • Experience with IV starts and phlebotomy is a plus.
