Overview

WellSpan Hospitals is seeking a Medical Technologist/MLT/POC for a PRN/Casual Night Shift role in New Freedom, Pennsylvania. This position involves providing technical assistance and patient care by collecting and analyzing laboratory specimens while ensuring compliance with established protocols and regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory tasks and complex tests according to established protocols
  • Collect and process specimens, ensuring quality control and preventive maintenance
  • Validate and report results, assist with troubleshooting and quality assurance
  • Maintain compliance with safety practices and documentation for regulations
  • Coordinate and perform laboratory activities in collaboration with the Laboratory Director
  • Assist with patient care activities such as phlebotomy, IV starts, and vital signs
  • Ensure patient safety, privacy, and confidentiality
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of lab and patient care areas
  • Document data related to patient needs and emergencies

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological/Physical Sciences or Medical Laboratory Science
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum of 6 years core lab experience
  • Act 33 and Act 73 clearances
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist (MLS/MLT)
  • Experience with IV starts and phlebotomy is a plus
