Job Description

Overview

The Medical Technologist/MLT/POC position at WellSpan Hospitals is a PRN/casual night shift role focused on providing technical assistance and supportive patient care. The role involves specimen collection, analysis, and reporting, alongside responsibilities for quality control and compliance with laboratory standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform complex tests in assigned laboratory areas according to protocols
  • Collect and process laboratory specimens
  • Conduct quality control and preventive maintenance of laboratory instruments
  • Validate and report test results
  • Assist with technical troubleshooting and quality assurance
  • Ensure compliance with safety practices and documentation
  • Coordinate and perform pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic laboratory activities
  • Provide patient care activities such as phlebotomy and vital signs monitoring
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in the lab and patient care areas

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological/Physical Sciences or Medical Laboratory Science
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum 6 years core lab experience
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist (MLS/MLT) by ASCP or AMT
  • Valid state license as a Laboratory General Supervisor or ability to obtain
  • Experience in non-waived specialties of a clinical laboratory
