Job Description

Overview

The Medical Technologist will provide technical assistance and supportive patient care at Dignity Health - St. Rose Dominican Neighborhood Hospital. This role focuses on the collection and analysis of laboratory specimens, ensuring compliance with protocols and regulations, and acting as a general supervisor over assigned lab activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform tasks and complex tests in all laboratory areas according to established protocols
  • Collect and process specimens utilizing technical knowledge and protocols
  • Conduct quality control and preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments and procedures
  • Validate and report test results, assisting with troubleshooting and quality assurance
  • Follow established safety practices and maintain compliance documentation
  • Assist with patient care tasks including phlebotomy, vital signs, and EKGs
  • Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment
  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist with other treatments
  • Attend staff meetings and perform additional duties as assigned

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological/Physical Sciences or Medical Laboratory Science
  • Current BLS certification
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist (MLS/MLT)
  • Valid State of Nevada license or ability to obtain
  • Minimum of 3 years lab experience in clinical laboratory specialties
  • Experience with IV starts, phlebotomy, and EKG initiation preferred
