Overview

The Medical Technologist Advanced role at MUSC involves supporting high-quality laboratory testing in a clinical setting. Responsibilities include specimen preparation, routine and specialized laboratory tests, quality control, and troubleshooting laboratory instruments.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare specimens for testing
  • Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests
  • Conduct quality control and troubleshoot errors
  • Perform preventative maintenance on laboratory instruments
  • Communicate technical information to medical and lay persons
  • Assist in training laboratory personnel
  • Participate in continuing education
  • Recognize and evaluate normal and abnormal values
