Job Summary Performs quality diagnostic laboratory testing on a variety of specimens. Supervises the Following Positions Positions: N/A Physical Requirements The ability to perform the duties and responsibility of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations for disabilities. The ability to consistently lift, push or pull loads of up to fifty (50) pounds. Resource Utilization: Consistently utilizes and maintains supplies and equipment to minimize lost charges and unnecessary equipment repair-replacement. Confidentiality: Adheres to established policies on privacy and security requirements for compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), as applicable by Shannon Policy. Performance: Position Specific Essential Functions Demonstrates clinical competencies necessary to perform and analyze a variety of laboratory test/procedures. Prepares reagents, standards, and controls according to prescribed procedures. Performs test analysis in a timely manner. Calibrates, standardizes and maintains instruments in accordance with established procedures. Researches and develops new procedures as assigned. Adheres to hospital, department, personnel policies, and procedures. Also adheres to laboratory and hospital safety policies and procedures. Exhibits computer skills needed for daily operation of the laboratory and hospital information systems, Demonstrates professionalism while functioning in the healthcare environment and recognizes the value of continuous professional growth and development. Assists in orienting and training new employees and students. Contributes to teamwork, quality improvement and productivity of the department. Performs other duties as assigned.
