Overview

Shannon Health is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform quality diagnostic laboratory testing on a variety of specimens. The role requires supervision of laboratory tasks, ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with established procedures.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform and analyze a variety of laboratory tests and procedures
  • Prepare reagents, standards, and controls according to prescribed procedures
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments
  • Research and develop new procedures as assigned
  • Adhere to hospital and laboratory safety policies
  • Assist in orienting and training new employees and students
  • Demonstrate professionalism in the healthcare environment
  • Contribute to teamwork and quality improvement efforts

Required skills

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or Biological Science
  • ASCP Certification Eligible
  • Experience in Blood Banking, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and online documentation
  • Strong time management and decision-making skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
