Job Description

Overview

Mercy is seeking a part-time Medical Lab Technologist I in Marietta, Oklahoma, to perform and interpret analyses on patient specimens using complex laboratory techniques. The role involves collaborating with medical staff and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of laboratory results while adhering to departmental policies and regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform the full range of testing and reporting according to department policies and procedures.
  • Accurately perform and record quality control, calibration, and instrument maintenance.
  • Organize, prioritize, and complete work to meet defined turnaround times.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems or unexpected test results promptly.
  • Communicate quality control findings and implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in maintaining current department policies and procedures.
  • Assist in training and education of others as requested.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of reagents and supplies.
  • Attend departmental, laboratory, and hospital meetings as required.

Required skills

  • MLT or MLS certification or obtained within 6 months of hire
  • Completion of a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training course
  • Associate's degree in a related field
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3 years acceptable clinical laboratory experience preferred
  • MT(ASCP) or equivalent certification preferred
  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques and quality control
