Job Description

Overview

Mercy is seeking a part-time Medical Lab Technologist I in Marietta, Oklahoma. In this role, the technologist will perform and interpret analysis on patient specimens, utilizing complex laboratory techniques to assist medical staff in patient diagnosis while adhering to Mercy's mission and values.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform a full range of testing and reporting according to department policies
  • Accurately record quality control, calibration, and instrument maintenance
  • Organize and complete work to meet turnaround times and expectations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems related to test results
  • Document and communicate information to relevant stakeholders
  • Participate in maintaining department policies and procedures
  • Assist with staffing plans and departmental needs as required
  • Participate in training and education of others when requested
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of reagents and supplies
  • Ensure quality and integrity of specimens before testing
  • Accumulate a minimum of 12 CEU per year for continuing education

Required skills

  • Associate's degree
  • MLT or MLS certification (or to be obtained within 6 months)
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3 years of clinical laboratory experience preferred
  • MT(ASCP) or equivalent certification preferred
  • Laboratory techniques and specimen analysis
  • Quality control and troubleshooting
  • Time management and communication skills
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations
