Overview

The Medical Lab Scientist Lead at Research Medical Center will provide technical leadership and oversight for laboratory personnel, coordinating daily activities while ensuring quality control in the laboratory. This role involves performing biochemical and hematologic testing, monitoring inventory, and participating in performance improvement activities, with a focus on creating positive patient interactions.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for laboratory personnel
  • Plan and coordinate daily activities for laboratory staff
  • Perform preanalytic, analytic, and post-analytic testing
  • Investigate causes of unexpected test results
  • Monitor quality control and inventory of supplies
  • Maintain a safe work environment
  • Participate in performance improvement activities
  • Evaluate new test methodologies and instrumentation
  • Correlate abnormal laboratory data with pathologic states
  • Teach theory and procedures to clinical laboratory science students
  • Assist with the orientation and training of laboratory employees

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science
  • 3 years experience in an accredited laboratory
  • 2 years experience in the technical area preferred
  • Hospital laboratory experience preferred
  • Knowledge of quality control in laboratory settings
  • Ability to perform biochemical and hematologic testing
